‘I was very impressed by the very simple way ‘Cowboy Ben’ builds through the use of cutting and camera angle. It almost becomes a scene out of a Sergio Leone western but given its rather banal setting, one that is kind of surreal. That bland restaurant and the two great performances really gave ‘Cowboy Ben’ a sense of ‘reality’, without which I feel the film could well have fallen flat. But it certainly did not do that’ – ROGER DEAKINS ON COWBOY BEN

'Shaun Dooley brilliantly evoked a man struggling with his demons and balanced humour, melancholia and dark tragedy very dextrously' - ADRIAN SCARBOROUGH ON SHAUN DOOLEY'S COWBOY BEN PERFORMANCE
